Police Brutality

BELEN SORIANO
Police Brutality

Within The Hunger Games there is various instances where thee reader understands how a corrupt government and society does exist in the country of Panem. Not only does  the corruption of government exist in fictional novels or has it existed in the past, it exists in modern-day societies and even in our neighboring countries.

When a government is corrupt it is easy to imagine how anything in a corrupt society is harmful and does more damage than anyone can imagine. Countries around the world deal with these types of governments and the fact that everything in the country seems to be run by people who strongly support corruption,  citizens often feel unsafe and betrayed by their own people. Although countries like Mexico don’t have complete corruption in the government itself other than the police.
The Mexican police in Mexico is mostly known for how corrupt some it can be. Although it is their duty to serve and protect the citizens of Mexico, it seems as if they do the opposite. Many of Mexico’s finest policemen have been linked with various crimes and even helping criminals in the prisons escaping and committing more murders within the prison than they did outside when they were free men.
Just the thought of police brutality is mind blowing and almost seems as if it is out of this world and only in movies. Yet, it does exist and it exists in many different countries in the world and affects many people world wide.

Word Count: 250

This form of brutality is not only toward fellow humans, but against defenseless students.
